Illustration How a will reads from the other side

A letter, as an illustration

To the one I named,

If you are reading this, I stopped checking in.

I wrote this will on an ordinary day. I named you, and I picked ninety days.

Every so often I pressed one button: I'm still here.

Then I didn't.

Day 90

day 0 · last check-inday 90 · deadline
  1. Day 0. The last check-in. The timer starts again from here.
  2. Day 30. Nothing happens. The coins stay in the wallet and can be spent as usual.
  3. Day 60. Still nothing. One check-in now would restart all ninety days.
  4. Day 90. The deadline. From this second, anyone may call release().

Illustration Day 90

What I approved is still in my wallet: the dollars I kept as USDG, the shares I hold as tokens. Still mine, for as long as I keep checking in.

Sent to: 0x… the beneficiary you named

Each token moves straight from the owner's wallet to the beneficiary: the smaller of what is still held and still approved. Nothing passes through the contract, and a ping that lands first moves the deadline instead.

§1

Write your will

Approve each token, then write the will: a few transactions in your own wallet. The tokens stay where they are.

Writing a will needs a browser wallet and JavaScript.

If you go quiet for 90 days, whatever you hold of the tokens you pick goes to your beneficiary.

    How it works

    1. 01

      Write

Name one beneficiary, pick how long silence means (1 hour to 10 years), and list up to ten tokens. You approve them to the contract. Nothing moves, and the contract holds nothing.

    2. 02

      Check in

Press I'm still here: one transaction, as often as you like. Each one restarts the timer. Change or cancel the will any time.

    3. 03

      Release

Stay quiet past your deadline and anyone can trigger the release. Each token goes straight from your wallet to your beneficiary: only what you still hold and still allow. A paused or revoked token is skipped; the rest still moves.

    §3

    What this is not

    §4

    Risks

    1. Forgetting to check in sends your coins. That is the feature. There is no grace period and no reminder from us; the page can make a calendar file for you.
    2. An approval is a permission. A bug in the contract would put approved tokens at risk. It can only send to the beneficiary you stored. Cap the approval if you are unsure.
    3. A wrong beneficiary is final. The contract rejects only the zero address and your own. Check the address on the explorer.
    4. Issuers can pause and freeze. Robinhood and Paxos can stop a token from moving. The release skips it; it can be tried again later.
    5. Anyone can release, bots included, from the second the deadline passes. A ping after a release does not bring tokens back.
    6. The will stays after a release. Approvals left in place can send again after the next deadline. Revoke what you do not want covered.
